Richmond Fellowship & The Colour in Mind Project

This project is working with the charity the Richmond Fellowship in Leigh who work in mental health and recovery and the participants chose ‘Colour in Mind’ as the title for the project. On this first week we looked at Matisse’s collaged works as a starting point for experimentation and as an ice breaker for the initial session, the participants enjoyed the freedom of being able to create what they felt was appropriate without any restrictions which helped to create a friendly group atmosphere.

When we started the second session we started looking at books and magazines to use as  templates to trace images with acetates and post pens as this gave everyone the freedom to draw and explore images. We discussed how we would use these acetates over the next few weeks and how we will be creating different surfaces and trying out various techniques and medias all focused on experimental play through creativity. I am really looking forward to all the playful art making!
